Indian para arches Sheetal Devi and Sarita finished their journey by achieving 2nd and 9th position in women’s individual compound open ranking round at Paris paralympics 2024 on 29.08.24 Thursday. Harvinder singh got 9th position in mens recurve ranking round. Sheetal got training under army officers Abhilasha and Kuldeep. Sarita got training in Shrines sports complex at Katra and Harvinder got support from NGO olympic gold quest.

1st and 2nd position Paris paralympic archer
Turkey’s Oznur Cure Girdi, set a new world record of 704 in women’s individual compound open ranking round at Paris paralympics 2024. Indian Archer Shital Devi got the second position scoring 703 just 1 point behind first rank.
Shital Devi age is 17 years only, she was born without arms and shoots with her legs.
World record para archer
The previous world record of 698 was set by Phoebe Peterson Pine from Great Britain earlier this month. Before Phoebe the para archery world record of 694 was created by another British para archer Jessica Stretton in Tokyo 2020.
Sheetal Devi achieved 2nd position and Sarita got third position by scoring 682.

Sheetal Devi biography
Sridevi born on 10 January 2007 is an Indian para archer. She was born without arms as suffering from the medical problem phocomelia. Sheetal is the first and only International para archery champion without upper limbs.
Early life
On 10 January 2007 Sheetal Devi was born in Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir. She attended a youth event in 2019 and was noticed by the Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles unit. In that event the Army took initiative to support her education and medical assistance.
Sheetal Devi career and achievements
The youth event held in 2019 organized by the Indian army became the turning point of her career. The army coaches Abhilasha Chaudhary and Kuldeep Wadhwa noticed her confidence and decided to give her training for the Paralympics.
Indian coaches wanted to help her with prosthetics. Prosthetics is a device used as a missing body part but in her case doctors told it is not possible. Sheetal devi has the expertise of climbing trees with her legs. When she told the coaches about her tree climbing talent to coaches they were shocked.
Coaches never trained a person for archery without arms so they started researching and learned about Matt Stutzman. Stutzman was an American para archery champion who won a silver medal in 2012.

Sarita Devi archer biography
Sarita Devi is an Indian para archer born on 1st January 2087 in Jammu and Kashmir. She won silver and bronze medals in the 2022 Asian para games. Do you know Dean Henderson how he became a football player if yes please comment below.
In the para asian archery championship Sarita won bronze medal in the women’s compound archery open section by defeating Jyoti Baliyan. She won a bronze medal in an archery team event along with Sheetal. She got archery training from Mata Vaishno Devi Shrines sports complex at Katra.
Harvinder Singh archer biography
Harvinder Singh was born on 25 Feb 1991 in Kaithal, Haryana is an Indian paralympic archer. Harvinder Singh won bronze medal in men’s single recurve archery at the 2020 summer paralympics.
Harvinder Singh got support from NGO olympic gold quest.
